There's so much alcohol presented and consumed in CASABLANCA, you'd almost think it's a long form commercial for the International Bartenders Association. There's Champagne, cognac, Cointreau, brandy, and much, much more. But at the end of the day, it's a simple tale about pickling your liver with bourbon over a woman (and friendship). As they gamble, attempt to reach America, or plot their world domination, patrons of Rick's Café Américain love to toss back the powerful French 75 (recipe below), a wonderful sipping companion to this fine film.
ALTERNATE MATCH: Straight bourbon whiskey
Ingredients: Throw the gin, lemon juice, and syrup into a cocktail shaker with ice. Shake vigorously. Strain into a highball glass and top with Champagne.
