What is it about DIE HARD that keeps legions of men coming back for more? Few dudes need little else than getting to vicariously live out their fantasies of running around barefoot with a machine gun. Not enough for you? Well, the film also delivers a healthy, well-balanced meal of 1980's nostalgia. There are no cell phones. BUT, the limo has a car phone (and VHS!). Characters gush multiple times over the "modern" touchscreen lobby kiosk. John McClane (Bruce Willis), an archetypical NYPD officer, even enjoys a cigarette inside the LAX baggage claim area, and can barely contain his 80's homophobia when another man kisses him on the cheek at a Christmas party. But none of that matters once Hans (Alan Rickman) and his thieving crew shoot up the scene at Nakatomi Plaza in LA's Century City. Things get explosive quickly, and once the fireworks begin, you may enjoy your Fireball (recipe below).
"Come out to the coast, we'll get together, have a few laughs.."
McClane beats the heat.
