Born a poor black child, Navin Johnson (Steve Martin) is given brief advice before leaving home: "The Lord loves a workin' man; don't trust whitey; see a doctor and get rid of it." After a few odd jobs, he finds his fortune, a beautiful girl (Bernadette Peters), and a taste for alcohol. Navin is never picky on his drink ingredients, as long as there's a bamboo umbrella present. Through it all, he's always the good son, never forgetting to write home to his family.
Anything with a bamboo umbrella
New drinking game: "For one dollar I'll guess your weight, your height, or your sex!"
This restaurant didn't even have the bamboo umbrellas for the drinks, and there were snails on the plate!
